Department of Travel and Tourism was established in July, 2005. Since that time,
the Department staff has worked diligently to build a strong, credible industry
resource for the tourism businesses serving Currituck County. The Department is

The annual report details the significant progress
achieved by the County’s Travel and Tourism Department efforts to promote
tourism and attract visitors to Currituck during the 2006 - 2007 fiscal
year.
The Annual Report includes data and analysis on occupancy and sales tax collection, marketing strategies, expenditures and statistical research. Detailed information highlights visitor spending related to the positive economic impact for Currituck County in the 2006-2007 fiscal year.
Currituck County enjoyed an above-average increase in visitor spending, as spending by overnight visitors in Currituck County increased by 9.9% from the previous fiscal year. Comparatively, Pasquotank County increased by 7.4% and Dare County went up by 8.7%.
