Tourism Department Releases 2006-2007 Annual Report Back to Headlines

Currituck County’s Department of Travel and Tourism released its 2006-2007 Annual Report this week. This document details significant progress achieved by the County’s efforts to promote tourism and attract visitors to Currituck during the fiscal year.

The Annual Report includes data and analysis on occupancy and sales tax collection, marketing strategies, expenditures and statistical research. Detailed information highlights visitor spending related to the positive economic impact for Currituck County in the 2006-2007 fiscal year.

Currituck County enjoyed an above-average increase in visitor spending, as spending by overnight visitors in Currituck County increased by 9.9% from the previous fiscal year. Comparatively, Pasquotank County increased by 7.4% and Dare County went up by 8.7%.

Currituck County also topped the overall state average increase for visitor spending, which was 8.3%, as well as the national average increase of 7.7%.
